Falls Creek’s mountain bike park, once a ski field, now features world-class trails that attract riders of all abilities. Shuttle services operate every weekend while new gravity flow trail ‘Flowtown’ will open this summer as another stopover destination.

An uninterrupted 10-km gravity trail spanning High Voltage, Wishing Well and Flowtown offers freeriders an uninterrupted freeriding experience. Additionally, XC up tracks provide additional challenging freeriding routes.

High Voltage

For an unparalleled all-mountain adventure, take on a 10km loop connecting High Voltage, Wishing Well and Flowtown trails. Boasting 535m of unbroken gravity and packed full of epically built features it’s sure to challenge and test you. Starting from the trig point you’ll take in incredible views before descending via an armoured access section to High Voltage; here you can take it at your own speed while taking in all its berms and jumps as they come your way!

Blue riders will find this trail an absolute treat, featuring tight and winding singletrack over alpine granite and rockier sections. Once on downhill terrain it becomes much faster with weaving trails providing entertainment along the way – just make sure your brakes are in top shape as the berms will put your skill to the test!

Wishing Well

Wishing Well Trail, an exciting addition to the Falls Creek Mountain Bike Park, features thrilling jumps, drops and flowy built berms for riders of all abilities to enjoy. Starting from High Voltage and connecting with Flowtown for an uninterrupted 10km gravity trail featuring 525m of descent; winding its way through snow gums into beautiful alpine terrain for an experience suitable for beginner through intermediate riders.

Over a pint of amber at Yackandandah’s Star Hotel, conversation turned towards day three – shuttle and gravity riding at Falls Creek Mountain Bike Park for Ignition MTB Festival shuttles and gravity riding trails, crashes, views and weather were discussed before Luke called to let us know that he would soon return to Melbourne for work commitments.

Falls Creek lies within Victoria Alpine National Park and boasts 40km of world-class gravity trails designed and constructed by World Trail for all skill levels from novice riders through expert all-mountain enthusiasts. All trails can be accessed directly from its village.

Mt Beauty and Bogong Village boast an excellent range of bike shops, cafes, restaurants and support services – with bike hire available on-mountain at the Falls Creek MTB Hub, shuttle services such as the Ticket Box and Bike Hub providing easy access to trails in the resort and accommodation on or nearby Mt Beauty/Boggong Villages.

Flowtown

Falls Creek is an unparalleled mountain biker’s haven. Over 40km of world-class gravity trails designed and built by World Trail offer something for all riders from novices to expert all-mountain bashers alike. Starting and ending in the ride-in/ride-out village of Falls Creek, riders can spend all day pedalling, or simply cruise along an easy, fun descent along a green trail for an easy, fun descent.

Falls Creek’s trail network is unrivaled in terms of length and steepness. Flowtown stands out as its longest and steepest descent with its unique combination of berms, jumps, rollers and gravity-fed laugh track that will have riders laughing out loud with joy as they roll along this gravity-fed ride. Ideal for early intermediate riders but pushing it hard can bring thrills of speed and exhilaration!

Even though Flowtown may be the star attraction, other sections of the network are just as great. For an unforgettable all-mountain experience, head up the Summit chairlift and link together High Voltage, Wishing Well and Flowtown for a 10-km 800m loss descent (including 280m of climbing!). When feeling tired you can return along Packhorse Jumpstart Vortex; just remember to save enough energy for climbing back up!

Falls Creek’s mountain biking development only began three years ago; yet already it stands head and shoulders above other Australian riding destinations. Take an uplift shuttle with Blue Dirt from Village Hub to Ticket Box or use one of the XC up tracks and make your own adventure; be it riding all day along its trail network or taking on what could become its most beloved trail, Skyline.

Falls Creek stands out in an otherwise legendary region for mountain bike trails with its network of XC up tracks. These steep, winding routes offer an unforgettable, rugged mountain biking experience unlike anything you will find at Mt Beauty or Bright.

Falls Creek offers over 42km of cross country trails for all levels. Beginner and early intermediate riders can navigate along the green-rated Playground trail while advanced riders can test themselves on Tombstone or Shred Kelly’s Last Stand trails for ultimate thrills and spills.

Hero, our newest cross country trail, offers riders an opportunity to ride across rugged lava fields while immersed in nature. The name Hero honors an esteemed local rider who loved these mountains with all his heart.

Shuttles run every weekend during mountain bike season from late November until early February so that riders can maximise their riding time and meet new people along their journeys.

The ski field-turned-mountain bike mecca has grown substantially in recent years, offering trails suitable for riders of all abilities and ambitions – cross country enthusiasts may appreciate some mellower trails while gravity enthusiasts will relish uphill tracks with big berms and flowy built features.

Start out on your mountain biking adventure on The ‘Green Line’; an interlinked series of green trails designed to give a gentle introduction to mountain biking without becoming too challenging. When ready, head up Summit road for a shuttle ride and hit one of High Voltage, Wishing Well or Flowtown’s legendary blue/black trails like High Voltage, Wishing Well or Flowtown with 525m of flowy built features combined with challenging drops, jumps and berms for an exhilarating ride!

Originally intended as a backpacker trail, this classic loop is now an essential must-do for serious mountain bikers. Boasting tight and twisty singletrack with some rocky sections, its upper loop takes riders through beautiful forests – whether for short rides or combined with hike-a-bike adventures for full day adventures! Please be aware that part of this trail remains closed until August 15 in order to protect elk habitat – please avoid it until then!
