Autumn Art and Craft Fairs in the High Country
Autumn brings out the artist and craft community’s best, making art and craft fairs an inspiring source of delight and motivation for holiday gift giving or simply browsing at home. You’re sure to feel prepared and motivated as soon as you step through their doors!

1. Designing Women
Fall fairs provide an exciting opportunity to stock up on gifts for yourself and loved ones, from woolen carpets and rugs to handmade jewelry, vintage collectibles and handcrafted goods from Third World nations – something sure to delight any discerning shopper!
Designing Women, an Egg Collective exhibit showcasing female designers’ works, was one of the highlights. Ravelin favorite pieces included Lindsey Adelman’s organic light fixtures composed of knotted glass bubbles and Moving Mountains’ comfortable modern “Chaise Lounger,” Yolande Milan Batteau’s opulent mirrors that blur between art and function, Hiroko Takeda wall hangings by Debora Ehrlich featuring strand-looking lighting and Maria Moyer’s minimal jewelry; in addition, Natalie Herrera of High Glosss and Julianne Ahn of Object and Totem offered forward-thinking ceramic pieces that made an impressionful first impression upon first seeing.
This year’s exhibit includes Rooms, a Georgian interior design duo renowned for their modular furniture which has won praise from Dutch brand Moooi. Their Life of Earth collection boasts a coffee table featuring hand-carved timber legs and metal surfaces which appear pierced through by brass diamonds – an intriguing contrast from other pieces featured.
At this fair, participants can find handmade goods crafted by members of their community – clothing, skincare and jewelry being some examples. Other highlights of the fair include book signings from local authors as well as live performances by Phoenix Theatre Ensemble. Attending is free; donations of nonperishable food products would be gratefully received.
2. Woodfords Church Downeast Fair

Held annually in Herkimer County, this event is Herkimer County’s premier modern craft fair and showcases more than 100 highly skilled independent artisans, designers and manufacturers from across upstate New York. At this popular show presented by Kessler Promotions- an experienced show promoter – you will be able to shop anything from leather goods and stained glass art, weaving textiles as well as handmade artisan food clothing jewelry and more – plus much more.
3. Hutton Brickyards Craft + Supply
Cottage-core enthusiasts will find this cozy town craft fair the ideal destination. Filled with everything from shabby chic to new country decor pieces, there’s sure to be something here that appeals to everyone – plus enjoy some soup or chili while shopping – plus it is a fantastic opportunity to support local 4-H youth!
Field + Supply was first launched as an innovative arts and crafts fair by interior designer Brad Ford in 2014. Taking place twice annually at Hutton Brickyards, Field + Supply features carefully curated makers who represent traditional craftsmanship as well as artistic processes. Ford selects vendors across various categories including textiles; wood; ceramics; textiles and more.
Ford strives to elevate every event it hosts. Instead of selecting talented artisans and simply selling their wares at an artisan fair, Field + Supply has evolved into an immersive design celebration featuring vendors as well as guest speakers, workshops and creative activations events.
No matter your art or gift needs, this fair is sure to have what you are searching for. Notable exhibitors include braided rugs from Hand Knotted Country Carpets; hardwood tables and baskets by Foxcreek Baskets; as well as pyrography art by Tree Girl Creations.
One weekend every October, design lovers from New York City and throughout the Hudson Valley descend upon Kingston for Field + Supply, an iconic interior designer Brad Ford-conceived craft fair that has attracted decorators, locals, and elite decorators alike. Over three days this event features incredible vendors that offer home furnishings, wearables, consumables and much more – an event not to be missed!
4. Rhinebeck Antique Show
Rhinebeck Antique Show offers an excellent alternative for those with limited time and resources. At this annual event, attendees can find everything from antique camping equipment and estate silver to vintage furniture, books, and ephemera.
Frank Gaglio, organizer of the fair, reported an 14% rise in attendance since last spring due to “show clustering,” or hosting multiple shows within close proximity so as to draw collectors from broader geographic regions. Additionally, this year will offer special exhibits and more food vendors.
As an added benefit, this show also showcases local artisans in addition to dealers. Shoppers will find everything from handmade jewelry and basket weavings by Hudson Valley Woodworking groups like Wappinger Senior Association or Hudson Valley Woodworking as well as delicious foods available from concession stands in the region.
Location-wise, Rhinebeck Fair’s proximity to historic Beekman Tavern makes it the ideal setting for exploring its colonial past. When night falls, Brown suggests visiting Foster’s Coach House Tavern or The Kroeg for drinks which haven’t changed in 200 years; or RhineCellar for speakeasy-style cocktails located beneath historic Rhinebeck Hardware Company building – both offering drinks like they did 200 years ago! For added refreshment make sure to bring water bottle; there are free water fountains located throughout grounds while cans cans cans cans cans be donated by guests arriving at entrance gate!
5. Shawangunk Valley Fire Company Vendor Blender
At this craft fair that highlights the art and crafts of a cozy town, visitors will find unique gifts or treat themselves to something special. Handmade products including knit apparel, pottery and home goods will be for sale, along with jams & jellies, baked goods and much more – it also serves as a fundraiser for 4-H scholarships! Sponsored by Shawangunk Valley Fire Company this event makes shopping unique gifts easier or simply treating yourself!

Although both summer and spring fairs in the Hudson Valley offer great shopping opportunities for locally made products, fall stands out as being particularly promising due to its cooler temperatures sparking creativity. Gifting season may also be at hand!
This year marks the sixth edition of this traveling market at SUNY New Paltz campus, taking over different sections every weekend.
