Falls Creek is a true European-style alpine village located 1600m above sea level in the magnificent Alpine National Park. Boasting 450ha of ski terrain and an extensive snowmaking network, Falls Creek provides skiing experiences to suit skiers of all ages and abilities.

Village amenities and services also extend to visitors, including an assortment of eateries offering cuisine from different cultures.

Slalom Plaza

Falls Creek Village boasts an impressive selection of accommodation, from budget rooms to luxury apartment complexes. Situated at the core of a ski resort, it serves as a hub of activity with many services available such as restaurants and bars.

Slalom Plaza is an inviting spot at the base of Halley’s Comet chairlift, providing easy ski in/ski out access and breathtaking mountain views. There are cafes and restaurants here as well as a supermarket, post office and ski rental shops; plus it acts as the collection point for kids ski school/child care programs/Falls Express lift – making this an excellent starting point to begin your day in Slalom Plaza!

The plaza comprises a series of stepped buildings linked by a broad public staircase. Both paths of movement pass a range of retail and amenity spaces before reaching the new central meeting place with expansive north-facing terraced cafe & restaurant areas. All structures and stairs feature natural wood and stone finishes which blend in beautifully with its snowy landscape surroundings.

Falls Creek is Victoria’s premier alpine resort and features an incredible diversity of terrain – 17% beginner, 60% intermediate and 23% advanced – ideal for all levels. Families, first-timers and expert riders will all appreciate its fantastic beginner trails as well as steeper slopes and tree runs perfect for expert riders.

Ski-in/ski-out accommodation dominates most of the village’s lodging options, with only a handful of hotel rooms located within Village Bowl area being exceptions. Staying in Slalom Plaza area may be more suitable for families as you will be within easy access of amenities such as children’s ski school and child care on Gully and Cloud 9 Falls Express lift plus restaurants and bars nearby.

Falls Creek, Victoria’s popular family resort with its charming pedestrian-only alpine village and luxurious ski-in, ski-out accommodation, is a popular Victorian family destination. Situated within Alpine National Park at 1600m above sea level and benefiting from natural snowfall as well as an eco-friendly snowmaking system, Falls Creek serves as training grounds for Australia’s national cross-country team and hosts its annual Kangaroo Hoppet.

At this resort, there is terrain suitable for all levels, with the Village Bowl as its focal point. Experienced riders will appreciate its steep slopes and cornices while novices may prefer the long gentle trails winding amongst quaint gum trees. It has also become famous for its mogul runs – particularly Exhibition which has played host to several world championships!

Skiing 4 Kids offers an engaging learning program for children aged three to five years of age. Situated at Village Bowl, its centre provides drop off points for the ski school, child care facilities and retail shops; in addition to offering magic carpet rides that allow them to learn without drag lifts; plus there’s also Snowplay Park – an incredible snow playground featuring mini rollercoasters, slushy slides and other forms of play!

Australia’s longest beginners slope and several excellent ski schools with international instructors are located here, along with snowshoeing, sled riding and ice skating activities as well as four terrain parks boasting some of the largest features in Australia.

Falls Creek offers visitors a number of amenities, including free toboggan slopes and an ice rink – as well as numerous restaurants and bars – along with the Falls Creek Visitor Information Centre that’s open daily during winter months to provide invaluable advice to guests.

Mount Beauty Resort can be reached from Melbourne by taking either Hume Highway or Great Alpine Road; accommodation includes ski in/ski out chalets/apartments as well as hotels; those wishing to venture further can rent cars in either Mt Beauty or Bright.

Falls Creek, located high up in Victoria’s Australian Alps, is one of the premier alpine ski resorts. When visiting during snow season, Mt Beauty Village offers numerous ski-in ski-out accommodations of various price points; hotels, apartments and commercial lodges. If you prefer something less costly but off-mountain lodging may also be found nearby in Mt. Beauty and Bright.

To access Falls Creek Village, a resort entry permit must first be purchased. These may be purchased either at the ATS building in person or online before visiting, as this fee helps fund ski patrol, snow clearance and garbage collection services. It’s wise to purchase one as early as possible since peak periods could see these sell out quickly.

Falls Creek offers an ideal all inclusive ski vacation experience. Offering numerous lodging options and restaurants to keep guests occupied during their stay. About four to five hours drive from Melbourne (may take longer during busy times of season), snow chains should always be carried if required and road conditions should always be checked prior to driving up the mountain.

Sun Valley

Sun Valley brings to mind images of Hollywood glamour, rich history and tradition as well as exceptional skiing. There are no big lift lines here; instead the terrain offers plenty of powder opportunities on long pitches for individual enjoyment.

Sun Valley doesn’t provide ski-in/ski-out accommodations, though there are several nearby lodging options that are easily accessible via its free village shuttle bus service. Accommodation options range from luxury apartments, chalets, lodges and lodges suitable for couples getaways or family vacations; also take a moment to visit Spa Q for some pampering before experiencing its vibrant apres ski scene in over 30 bars and restaurants!
